Texas football seeks to restore its defensive production this weekend after missing its top pass rusher in the previous contest.

The program lost its leading tackler for a single week. Colin Simmons sat out the 34-27 victory over Ole Miss on Saturday due to a right-ankle sprain. He is currently listed as questionable for the upcoming game against Mississippi State. Simmons leads the SEC in sacks this season. His availability would return the Longhorns to a near-complete pass rush unit.

Offensive options also improved on Wednesday. Running back Hollywood Smothers is probable after missing the Ole Miss game with a shoulder injury. Wide receiver Kaliq Lockett is also probable. He did not play in the previous week. Cam Coleman is probable after exiting that game in the third quarter with a shoulder injury.

One key position remains vacant. Left tackle Trevor Goosby is ruled out for Saturday. He was carted off the field in the first quarter of the Ole Miss game with a left-knee injury and did not return. His absence leaves a gap in the offensive line for the upcoming contest.

The team is looking to secure a second consecutive win in the conference following a strong start. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT at Royal-Memorial Stadium.
