The No. 14 Texas Longhorns (10-7, 6-3) face a decisive test on Wednesday as they attempt to escape a cluster of five teams tied with three conference losses. A victory over Georgia at Gregory Gymnasium in Austin would allow Texas to pull ahead in the standings. The match is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast on the SEC Network.

The primary defensive challenge for the Longhorns is Georgia outside hitter Bianna Muoneke. Muoneke, the daughter of former Texas basketball player Gabe Muoneke, leads the Southeastern Conference with 383 total kills and an average of 5.11 kills per set. The Cypress, Texas, native recently became the 21st player in program history to reach the 1,000-kill mark. Georgia currently holds a 14-5 overall record and a 6-3 mark in conference play.

Texas enters this matchup following a sweep of South Carolina on Sunday. The Longhorns won that contest 25-12, 25-19, and 25-21. Outside hitter Torrey Stafford led the team with 12 kills, while Henley Anderson contributed 11 kills and Nya Bunton recorded eight kills and three blocks. This result followed a five-set loss to Florida the previous week.

The Georgia Bulldogs (14-5, 6-3) have lost two consecutive conference matches to Texas A&M and Missouri. Five of their remaining conference opponents are ranked teams. Texas has five conference matches left on its schedule. Florida leads the SEC with an 8-1 record, while Tennessee sits in second place at 7-2.

The Longhorns need to limit Muoneke’s output to secure the win. A victory would move Texas to a 6-2 conference record, placing them one win ahead of Kentucky, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, and Missouri. The match takes place in Austin, where the Longhorns have hosted recent conference opponents.
