Lucas Halter headed the only goal of the match on Wednesday night to lead the Houston Dynamo past the Seattle Sounders 1-0. The result marks the first road win for Houston in Seattle, breaking a 17-game winless stretch at the venue. Jonathan Bond secured the win with six saves, extending Houston's strong defensive record.

Halter connected with a corner kick from Mateusz Bogusz in the 26th minute. It was the first goal of Halter's career in 20 MLS appearances. The assist marked Bogusz's fifth of the season, highlighting his continued impact on the attacking play for the Dynamo.

The victory moved Houston into fourth place in the Western Conference. This position guarantees home-field advantage in the first round of the playoffs, which is a best-of-three series. The Dynamo now hold a 14-9-9 record, while Seattle falls to eighth with an 11-11-10 record.

Seattle goalkeeper Andrew Thomas finished the game without a save. The loss leaves the Sounders with two matches remaining and a two-point lead over the Los Angeles Galaxy in ninth place. The top nine teams in each conference qualify for the postseason. Houston had drawn its previous four matches, while Seattle had tied its last two games.

The Sounders defeated Houston 1-0 in April in the reverse fixture. Both teams return to action on Sunday, with Houston traveling to face the Portland Timbers and Seattle heading to Vancouver to meet the Whitecaps.
