Cooper Flagg posted 26 points and eight assists to guide the Dallas Mavericks to a 120-96 victory over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night.
The Mavericks reached a 3-2 record, their first winning percentage above .500 since Flagg arrived last fall. The team built a 12-point lead in the first half that swelled to 27 points in the fourth quarter. Kyrie Irving scored 15 points, including 13 in the first half after making his first four shots. This marked Irving's first home regular-season game since suffering a torn left ACL in March 2025. He had sat out the second half of Dallas' home opener last week. First-year coach Dusty May secured his first home win on his second attempt.
The Thunder, now at 4-1, played without Jalen Williams, Cason Wallace, Chet Holmgren, and Alex Caruso. Williams is out with a broken leg and dislocated ankle, while Wallace deals with a torn labrum. Holmgren and Caruso both missed time due to patellar tendinitis. Ajay Mitchell scored 29 points for Oklahoma City, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander added 21.
Dallas shot 16-for-45 from three-point range, a season-best total. The Thunder attempted 32 threes and made only five, a season-low 15.6% success rate. Those were the lowest totals for a Mavericks opponent this season. Center Daniel Gafford made his first three-pointer in eight NBA seasons on his 2,384th career shot. His previous attempt at that mark came in March 2022 with Washington.
Both teams face the Houston Rockets next. Dallas hosts Friday, and Oklahoma City travels Saturday.
