The Milwaukee Brewers are now priced at +500 to win the 2027 World Series, a sharp improvement in their standing after they captured their first title in franchise history on Wednesday. This shift in betting lines places them directly behind the Los Angeles Dodgers, who lead all teams with +310 odds according to DraftKings. The change reflects a new level of market confidence in the Brewers' ability to succeed in the postseason.
The top three teams in the 2027 futures market are consistent across major sportsbooks. The New York Yankees sit third at +700. Discrepancies emerge in the lower ranks, with DraftKings listing the Boston Red Sox at 11-1. The Philadelphia Phillies and Seattle Mariners follow at 18-1. BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook differ on the fourth spot, listing the Atlanta Braves at 13-1 and 16-1 respectively.
The Brewers' odds have improved dramatically due to their performance in the National League Championship Series. They swept the Dodgers in that matchup, a result that altered how bookmakers view the team's October capability. Johnny Avello, director of sports operations at DraftKings, noted that previous seasons saw the Brewers exit early. He stated that the recent run has increased confidence in Milwaukee's ability to win deep into the postseason.
Eric Biggio, head of baseball at Caesars, agreed with this assessment. He said the head-to-head sweep of Los Angeles really cemented the Brewers as a championship-caliber team. This perception stands despite the fact that Milwaukee built its roster with a payroll in the bottom half of the league. Bookmakers continue to favor the Dodgers and Yankees because of their financial resources and historical tendency to add talent during the offseason.
A representative from BetMGM pointed to the current rosters and the ability to add additional talent in the offseason as key factors. Avello added that early World Series odds account for potential changes during the offseason. He noted that neither the Dodgers nor the Yankees have finalized their rosters yet, but both have a history of being aggressive when opportunities arise. Biggio personally ranks those two teams as favorites to win their respective leagues.
The market also reflects the progress of other teams with modest budgets. The Tampa Bay Rays are listed at 22-1, a substantial improvement from the 80-1 odds they held before the 2026 regular season began. The Chicago White Sox are at 30-1, up from 500-1 at the start of the year. Conversely, the San Francisco Giants are at 200-1, while the Colorado Rockies hold the longest odds at 500-1 across all books.
A contentious collective bargaining agreement negotiation is expected to take place this offseason. While this could impact team rosters and financial dynamics, bookmakers are currently sticking with established patterns regarding the Dodgers and Yankees. The Brewers and Rays have built more respect from bookmakers through their successful postseason runs, moving them firmly into the middle of the market rather than the bottom.
