Kansas City Chiefs owner Andy Reid is expected to announce the signing of former Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker to the team's practice squad on Wednesday.
Tucker played 13 seasons in Baltimore before the Ravens released him in May 2025. The NFL suspended the five-time All-Pro for the first 10 games of the 2025 campaign following a violation of the league's personal conduct policy. He served that suspension as a free agent and regained eligibility last November. The Baltimore Banner reported in 2025 that Tucker visited a series of high-end spas. Tucker called those accusations unequivocally false and tabloid fodder. He was never criminally charged or sued in civil court. The kicker worked out with the New York Jets earlier this year but did not sign a contract with that team.
Kansas City currently lists Harrison Butker as its primary kicker. Butker has missed 10 field-goal attempts and five extra points since the start of last season. Those figures represent the highest totals in the league. He missed two kicks in a 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. He has failed four of his last six attempts. The signing of Tucker may provide depth or competition for Butker, who remains on the active roster.
Tucker is scheduled to turn 37 next month. He missed 10 kicks during the 2024 season. The Chiefs have not yet made the signing public. A person familiar with the move told The Associated Press that the agreement is in place. The team plans to address the addition during a weekly news conference later on Wednesday.
