Qatari mediators handed Iranian leaders a new draft agreement on Sunday aimed at ending the war with the United States and Israel. An official briefed on the talks stated on Wednesday that Tehran is scheduled to provide a response to the proposal by the end of the current week.

The document outlines a seven-day timeline designed to address the concerns of both Washington and Tehran. It specifies daily confidence-building steps that each side must complete to maintain the truce. The official noted that the timeline could begin as early as next week, with several nations serving as guarantors for the agreement.

Qatar and Pakistan have led mediation efforts to stop the conflict, which began in February. The war has interrupted global shipping routes and oil supplies while spreading into other regions of the Middle East. A previous interim peace agreement reached in June collapsed quickly, prompting renewed diplomatic activity.

Negotiations occur against a backdrop of rising military tension. Concerns emerged before Sunday's meeting in Tehran that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might resume attacks on Iran during a critical week for his general election campaign. The official said these fears influenced the urgency of the new draft.

US President Donald Trump reiterated threats to strike Iran again on Friday. In response, Iranian security officials told Reuters that Tehran has prepared detailed plans to target undersea cables in the Gulf if attacks resume. Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthis have also launched repeated attacks on Saudi Arabia, the world's largest crude exporter, in recent weeks.

The immediate focus remains on Iran's reaction to the seven-day plan. The draft offers a structured path to pause hostilities, though it has not yet been accepted by either primary party.
