Ernesto Chavana, the 58-year-old host of the Mexican variety programme Es Show, kicked a low-flying drone across the studio during a live episode earlier this week. The device, propellers still spinning, struck cast member Isabella Rojas in the face.
Rojas was led off stage in tears by the production team while Chavana continued presenting. She later returned to the set, where he addressed the incident. "I'm very sorry. I take responsibility for what just happened," Chavana said.
The model posted a video to her Instagram account showing a cut lip to Chavana, captioned: "Chavana will be held responsible for what happened." The production team has released no further details on what action, if any, will be taken against the host.
The clip circulated widely on social media, drawing sharp criticism from some viewers. One X user, MJB, wrote that Chavana "shouldn't be the host of a show; he should pay for the moral and physical damages." Another account, @Javier_H_F, noted that "the blades could have gouged out one of the model's eyes." On Instagram, Diego Tavares defended Chavana, writing: "It was an accident; he already admitted his fault; he never did it with the intention of hitting [her]."
