Eighty cents is the current cost of a plain pretzel with dipping sauces at The Pretzel Shop. Almost every other item on the menu costs under five dollars. The menu includes breakfast and deli sandwiches served on fresh pretzels, sandwich rolls, and daily specials. The shop is located at 2316 E. Carson St. in Southside.

The building has operated with its original brick oven since 1872. Staff bake pretzels daily in that specific oven. The menu offers housemade chicken salad, cinnamon sugar pretzels, and rotating daily specials. A popular order among patrons is the homemade chicken salad on a fresh pretzel, paired with a peanut butter cookie and a Schneider’s Peach Iced Tea.

The shop is cash only. An ATM is available on the premises for customers. Ordering occurs at a counter for takeout. While a line often forms, it moves quickly. A few tables sit on the sidewalk for outdoor seating during warmer months.

The Pretzel Shop operates from 6:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Hours on Saturday run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The business is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
