Sun Day Red, the golf apparel and footwear brand co-created by Tiger Woods and TaylorMade Golf, opened its first standalone flagship store in San Clemente on Monday, November 2.

The brand was established two years ago with a focus on clothing and accessories designed and developed in Orange County. The new location replaces the former Stance headquarters building at 197 Avenida La Pata. Company officials state the store serves golfers and fans who support the brand. Photos released by the company show an interior with dark blue walls, warm leather chairs, and racks of clothing, shoes, and hats.

The name Sun Day Red references Woods' habit of wearing red shirts on Sunday tournament days. Woods was born in Cypress and played full rounds of golf by age two. His professional career began in 1996 at age 20. In 1997, he won the Masters, one of four major professional golf tournaments in the nation. In 2005, he launched a $25 million learning center in Anaheim. He stepped back from his role at the nonprofit in 2009. The center is now called the TGR Learning Lab.

Brad Blankinship, president of Sun Day Red, said the location reflects the brand's roots. He noted that Orange County is where the brand started and where it belongs. He said the company wanted its headquarters in the community that shaped the brand, close to apparel talent in South Orange County and golf talent in Carlsbad. He described the store as a way to thank those who helped the brand grow and to invite them to participate.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. The store is the first brick-and-mortar location for the label.

Elsewhere in the region, Schiaparelli is opening its first standalone U.S. boutique in December at South Coast Plaza. The Parisian fashion house, founded in 1927 by Elsa Schiaparelli, will sell ready-to-wear apparel, leather goods, jewelry, and accessories. The store will be located on Level 2 in the Nordstrom Wing. The brand is known for its surrealist designs and the Face Bag handbag, which starts at $6,500. Celebrities including Lady Gaga and Arianna Grande have worn the brand to major events. The house is currently under the creative direction of Daniel Roseberry.

Big 5 is closing its store at Rancho Santa Margarita Town Center. The 9,000-square-foot location at 30682 Santa Margarita Parkway sits next to Ulta Beauty. Social media posts show closing banners on the storefront. Shoppers report markdown sales are already underway. The company, which was taken private last year by Worldwide Golf and Capitol Hill Group, has not provided a closing date.
