Kyle Konrardy kicked a 34-yard field goal at the buzzer on Saturday night, securing a 51-49 victory for Iowa State over No. 24 Oklahoma State in Ames, Iowa. The game ended in a tie at 48 points with 53 seconds remaining, a deficit that Iowa State erased with a decisive drive.

Oklahoma State took the lead late in the fourth quarter when quarterback Drew Mestemaker faked a handoff and passed to Wyatt Young for a seven-yard touchdown. However, the Cowboys' momentum shifted immediately after the score. Young was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct, and the penalty was applied to the ensuing kickoff, granting Iowa State favorable field position.

Iowa State coach Jimmy Rogers said the penalty was a major turning point. The Cyclones then advanced 47 yards over five plays to set up the winning kick. The first play of the drive was a 33-yard pass from Jaylen Raynor to Jamal Polite, establishing the rhythm for the final possession.

The game featured high volume for both teams, with a combined 1,114 yards of offense. Six scoring plays covered 40 yards or more. Raynor threw for 309 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for a score. Aiden Flora added 221 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Iowa State.

Oklahoma State coach Eric Morris called the loss disappointing, citing self-inflicted errors. He specifically pointed to Young's penalty, labeling it the most selfish play of the night. Mestemaker finished with 323 passing yards and five touchdowns, while Caleb Hawkins rushed for 194 yards for the Cowboys.

Iowa State had struggled in its previous two games, scoring only 13 points total. The win snapped that streak and marked the first victory over a ranked team for Rogers since he arrived in the offseason. Rogers noted that Raynor, who was benched late in the loss to Arizona last week, started this game and completed 18 of 28 passes.

Rogers praised Konrardy as the best kicker in the country, stating there was no doubt about his ability. The Cyclones will travel to Baylor next Saturday. Oklahoma State will host Kansas State at the same time.

The outcome left both coaches with mixed feelings. Rogers expressed happiness for his players, while Mestemaker described the loss as tough, saying every part of the game felt bad. The Cowboys had a chance to stay near the top of the Big 12 standings but faltered in the final minute.
